Emma: Aww you’re too sweet. I have never done a Q&A before so I am super excited about this. Thank you so much for having me on your blog. You are awesome! 🙂
Gryffindor Books: Let’s start off with an easy question! What is your Hogwarts House? What is your Ilvermorny House?
Emma: I have taken many Hogwarts House quizzes over the years and I always get Slytherin, and that is okay because not all of us are evil. For Ilvermorny I actually never checked. Shocking right? I guess that makes me a bad Harry Potter fan. (So I went to check now and the quiz put me in the Horned Serpent House.)
Gryffindor Books: What or who got you into reading? How old were you?
Emma: I never really read much as a child. In fact I hated it due to trouble I had with reading. I really got into reading when I started college. So reading a lot is fairly a new hobby of mine, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Gryffindor Books: When you were growing up which fictional characters did you relate to? Which character do you relate to now?
Emma: When I was younger I think I related a lot to Ginny Weasley (Harry Potter). She was quiet, but also strong willed and determined. No matter what she always stuck up for what she believed in and stood behind her friends. Which is a very important trait to have in my opinion.
Now I still think I relate to Ginny, but I also relate to Isabelle Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments). Isabelle is strong and determined like Ginny. She is also family oriented and would do anything for anyone she loves. I also wear stilettos all the time so I think our love for fashion is also something I could relate to.
Gryffindor Books: Which format do you prefer to read? Hardcover, Paperback, Audiobook or eBook?
Emma: I like both paperback and hardcover. I go back and forth on which ones I like better. I guess anything in a physical format I like. I also love audiobooks. If I get those then I try to follow along in a physical book as well.
Gryffindor Books: If you were trapped on an island with a book series and the author of that book series which one would it be and why?
Emma: That is a really hard question. I think I would have to pick Cassandra Clare and just any of her Shadowhunters books since I can’t just pick one series of hers. I’m picking her because there are so many books that I wouldn’t get bored on the island. Then after I could just ask her about what happens in all the books she is writing next.
Gryffindor Books: If you could live with one Author or Book Tuber who would it be and why?
Emma: Another hard question. I think I would go with an author for this one. Colleen Hoover would be my choice. She seems like a really fun person and nice to be around. Also I could just ask her questions about her new books.
Gryffindor Books: Do you have any tips to start reading more books?
Emma: I would say switch up the genre you read. Personally I can’t just read one genre I have to switch it up or I get stuck in a reading slump. Reading slumps are the worst.
Gryffindor Books: When did you start your booktube and how has it changed your life?
Emma: I started my BookTube channel almost 3 years ago now. (It will be 3 years in September.) It has changed my life a lot. For starters I have met a lot of amazing people some of which are really close friends now. I have changed my focus in college and my career path to something more book oriented, and I have also traveled a lot going to conventions.
Gryffindor Books: If you could have dinner with one author who would it be and why?
Emma: I think I will have to go with Jenny Han. She grew up where I am from so we have that in common, and I love her books. I also met her once at a signing and she was super sweet. Plus I follow her on Instagram and watch her stories on there and she is always cooking or baking and it makes me hungry because it looks so good.
Gryffindor Books: Emma, thank you so much for agreeing to do this little interview with me!
Emma: Thank you again for having me on your blog. This was awesome! Great questions by the way. 🙂
